Hello there!
Since this is my first blog post, I thought I would introduce myself and give you all an idea of what I hope this blog will be all about here at Retro Mucic Tech. My name is JR, yes, I have a real name - not just initials but for now, since this is my first blog and my first blog post, I am keeping my name a secret in case this turns out to be a horrible fail, and I end up embarrassing myself! What I hope this blog to be about is to cover all things music tech related, especially in the areas of recording for home studios and singer/songwriter types who would like to learn how to better capture their songs in a demo format, to hopefully shop for a record or publishing deal, sell at gigs, or just how to improve your recording technique. I would also like to talk about the songwriting biz, some of my thoughts on co-writing, pitching your tunes, and general rants and raves. Where's the retro come in? Well, since I have some vintage gear and I have always had a penchant for gizmos and such I thought that we should include all aspects of the tools and techniques of the recording arts, as well as some musical history now and then. Some of the old school micing techniques used back in the day still can give us great results, especially when paired with modern tools such as laptops running Protools, etc. Welcome aboard, and I hope to be back soon with my "real" first installment of Retro Music Tech!
